Living in Milton Keynes | Shopping / Entertainment
Milton Keynes is a unique shopping destination, attracting coach trips from far and wide. For those lucky enough to live here, there are over 300 stores on their doorstep, all under cover for easy shopping whatever the weather. These include favourite High Street retailers, department stores and designer shops.

Entertainment in Milton Keynes
However, that’s not all the shopping experience that the city has to offer. There’s also a traditional-style market close by the shopping centre, and any number of, small, independent, traditional shops – often still family run – in the bustling High Streets of the towns that help make up the city.

For those who prefer out-of-town shopping in large stores in retail parks, that’s available in Milton Keynes too – with the added advantage that it’s not out-of-town but just off the major grid roads. As well as electrical goods’, furniture and sports’ shops, and everything for the home and family, there are also hypermarket style supermarkets in some of the district centres.
Time to Relax
Though Milton Keynes residents are notably happy in their work, they also love to relax – and not only by shopping.

This is a city of entertainment, nightlife, art and culture. Pubs, wine bars and restaurants you might expect. Visits from the RSC, Moscow City Ballet and Glyndebourne Touring Company you might not.

The Theatre District alone is a £30 million development, where the renowned Milton Keynes Theatre is the focus for bars and restaurants, as well as a magnet for high quality plays and other performances.

The Milton Keynes Gallery is the region’s most exciting contemporary art gallery. And the whole city is an al fresco sculpture gallery, with one of the largest public sculpture collections in the UK – from the famous concrete cows by Liz Leah, to works by Elisabeth Frink and Ronald Rae.

At the cutting edge of entertainment, there’s Xscape, with Europe’s largest indoor “real snow” ski slope, an indoor rock climbing wall, 16 screen multiplex, ten pin bowling alley and much more. Or if you prefer more traditional pleasures, within 15 minutes you can be in a quiet country pub with a pint of warm beer.
